British Riding Clubs is legally and financially a department of the British Horse Society. Clubs affiliate to the BHS, and as a group form BRC. Committee structure National Executive Committee (NEC) We are governed by a democratically elected NEC that meets three times a year. The NEC, representatives of which are both BHS and BRC members, is the policy-making Committee of the BHS. Area representatives are also elected to sit on the NEC (click here for further information), together with a limited number of other nominated individuals who may have expert knowledge in, for example, training or health and safety. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman's term of office runs for two years with other members running for three. Sub-Committees Three Sub-Committees, formed from members of the NEC, deal with the main BRC activities - Competitions, Training and Marketing. These committees also meet three times a year. The BHS Board of Trustees is legally responsible for BRC finances. The BRC budget is self-contained and the reserves are in a restricted fund to be used for BRC purposes only. The BRC Office staff carry out the policies made by the NEC and the three Sub-Committees. Outlined below are the main benefits of being a member of an affiliated club.
